COFFIN MAKER ARRESTED BY POLICE IN ENEGU FOR FACKING HIS KIDNAP

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a coffin dealer in the State, for staging his own kidnap and demanding ransom from his relatives.

Confirming this to me, the Public Relations Officer to Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amariuzu said the suspect, Samuel Ani was arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Police Command.

He added that the suspect, who hails from Ugwuaji axis of Enugu south Local Government Area reportedly hid himself in a bush behind his shop for six days where he was making telephone calls to his two younger brothers in a very convincing tone that he has been abducted and that the sum of two million naira is required to secure his freedom or he will be killed. 

Correspondent Philip Nwelih quotes the Enugu State Police PRO as adding that the matter was reported to the police by the younger brothers of the suspect.

HOW A COFFIN DEALER KIDNAPPED HIMSELF AND DEMAND FOR RANSOM FROM BROTHERS IN ENUGU.

  The crime of Kidnapping identified as an ill wind that blows no body any good seems to have been construed by some people as a quickest way to make ends meet in the society.Until the day he was arrested by the operatives of the AntiKidnapping Unit of the Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police,Samuel Ani a coffin dealer from Ugwuaji axis of Enugu south Local Government Area of the state whose coffin shop is situated at Gariki axis of Awkunananaw also in Enugu south of the state never knew that his sin shall find him out.Samuel Ani had allegedly hid himself in a bush behind his shop for six days where he was making telephone calls to his two younger brothers in a very convincing tone that he has been abducted and that the sum of 2million naira is required to get him out of the purported kidnappers den or else he will be killed.Following this,the case was reported to the State police command who mobilized its Anti kidnapping unit.It was further gathered that when samuel intensified his call that the purported kidnappers were on the virge of killing him if his people can not bring the sum of money later reduced to #1.2m,some amount of money was sent accross to the account number provided by the purported kidnappers and a certain girl who went to cash the sum of initial #100,000 sent in one of the new generation banks located around Agbani road axis on 29/8/13,was tracked and picked by the operatives.The Girl was identified as one Oluchi Ogbu Faith from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state and a fiancee to samuel Ani.On closer interrogations,oluchi faith ogbu revealed that the account belongs to her but was instructed by samuel to supply the account number so that his brothers can pay the ransom via the account and that she is to cash it as soon as she receives alert of the payment and bring it to him.Her revelation however led to the arrest of samuel who disclosed that he was not kidnapped but maintained that he kidnapped himself so that his wealthy younger brothers can pay money for ransom which he will use to sort out his business dealings.He maintained that outside what he has done that the brothers can not give him monetary assistant and regretted his actions pointing out that the step he took is not a welcomed one by God,man or law and pleaded for forgiveness.He also revealed that he is a father of five children but never revealed to Oluchi Faith Ogbu that she is married but promised her of marriage.Asked whether he used to make huge sells in coffin making,he said he used to make low sells and that needed to trick the brothers to get out money from them in order to address his immediate challenges which require huge amount of money and maintained that he was not abducted and that he abducted himself to create tension so that his brothers can pay the ransom and he will withdraw it and start using it.Meanwhile investigation into the ugly incident are in full scale by the operatives.
