NIGERIAN UNION OF TEACHERS ISSUES TWO WEEKS ULTIMATUM TO GOVT.

The Nigerian Union of Teachers has threatened to shut down the education sector in two weeks time, if the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities filed to resolve the issue.
Issuing the ultimatum at a news conference in Abuja today, National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Michael Olukoya said infrastructural decay and neglect of public institutions, calls for serious concern.

He added that the union is already mobilising members across the federation to embark on a solidarity strike with ASUU if the federal government fails to meet their demands in 2 weeks.
Comrade Olukoya described the struggle of ASUU as most nationalistic, patriotic and self sacrificing.
The NUT President also called on the national assembly to move primary education away from the ambit of local governments in Nigeria.
