RED ALERT AS NIGERIA PREPARES FOR 53rd INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY.

Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has placed police personnel on red alert nationwide to ensure a hitch-free Independence Day celebration.

Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, announced this in statement issued yesterday in Abuja.
According to Mba, the I-G, specifically directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of state commands and maritime to ensure adequate and effective deployment of operational tools and manpower in their areas.
He equally directed them to pay special attention to shopping malls, parks, beaches, highways and other critical infrastructure and sensitive areas to guarantee the safety of the citizenry.
While congratulating Nigerians on the 53rd independence anniversary, Mr Abubakar praised the courage and determination of Nigerians to build and sustain a virile and indivisible nation, in spite of the present challenges
