DELTA GOV. VOWS TO END THE SPATE OF KIDNAPPINGS



Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has said his administration will stop at nothing in ending the menace of kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes in the state next year.  At the annual end of Year Thanksgiving Service organized by Iwere Kingdom, in Warri. Governor

Uduaghan said communities that aid and abet those who engage in acts of violence and criminality against other members of the society would henceforth be sanctioned.
He noted that such acts of criminalities were negatively affecting the image of the state among investors and visitors. In his sermon, the chaplain of the of the Warri kingdom, Dr. Mark Erumi harped on the importance of offering acceptable thanksgiving to God

STRAY BULLET HITS FRSC OFFICIAL IN BORNO STATE


Security personnel are trying to determine how an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps was struck by a stray bullet on Sunday in Maiduguri, Borno State. 

The Assistant Route Commander, Ibrahim Idris was controlling traffic at the Post Office Area in Maiduguri, when he was struck. He is reported to be responding to treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri

ACN ASKS NIGERIANS TO FIX THEIR GENERATORS IN 2013



The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN has asked Nigerians to hold on tenaciously to their generating sets in 2013. The party made the request in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed. ACN accused the Jonathan administration of engaging in governance of deceit by feeding the nation with lies.

It described assurances especially the promise to provide 785,000 jobs and 7,000megawatts of electricity by 2013 as another obvious deceit by the PDP-led government.
The party therefore advised Nigerians not to discard their generators yet but ensure that they are in functional state ahead of 2013

NIGERIAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY GETS PASS MARK IN 2012


The Nigerian entertainment industry has been given a pass mark in outgoing year. Former President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Segun Arinze told our correspondent Johnson Ayedun that year 2012 was a good year for Nigerian movie and music industry as many artistes were able to release albums or singles that launched them to stardom.

 Mr Arinze said it is commendable that most of the artistes were raking in millions of naira and getting multi-million naira endorsements in addition to gracing the biggest shows across the world.  While saying that 2013 will be better, Segun Arinze advised the entertainment sector to be focused and stop playing politics

COMMUNAL STRIFE DISPLACES MANY IN GWAGWALADA, FCT



No fewer than two persons have been confirmed dead in a communal clash in Gwagwalada, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The clash occurred at the weekend between the Fulani and Gwari ethnic groups in Gwako, Gwagwalada Area Council at the weekend.

The National Emergency Management Agency and officials of the Federal Capital Territory said 27 settlements were affected in the violence while 1,500 persons were displaced. FCT Minister, Bala Muhammad, has since visited the area to pacify the warring communities.  The displace persons are currently housed at the permanent site of the university of Abuja.
