MOBILE COURT CONVICTS 10 FOR SANTTAION OFFENCES IN EDO STATE.

A mobile court in Furgar, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo, yesterday (Saturday), convicted ten persons for not participating in the environmental sanitation exercise.
The presiding judge, Lawrence Wilson, found the accused guilty of the offence and ordered that they should either pay a five thousand naira fine each or be imprisoned.
He ruled that the convicts must pay the fine within seven days or be sent to prison.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Uyigue Iyobo, told the court that the offenders were found loitering during the sanitation exercise.
Mr Iyobor, who is the Head of the Sanitation Office of Etsako Local Government Council, urged the court punish the culprits so as to serve as deterrent to others.
He said that their offence contravened Section 12, Sub-section 2 of the Edo State Sanitation Law of 1976.
