KOGI DEPUTY GOVERNOR ESCAPES ACCIDENT



The Kogi State Government has confirmed an auto mobile accident involving the escort vehicle in the convoy of the state’s Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi.
A statement sent to Nigeria Info by Michael Abu, Chief Press Secretary to Kogi State Deputy Governor, said the accident occurred at about 2pm today(Sunday) in Yangoji, Kwali Local Council Area, along Abuja- Lokoja highway.

A Mercedes Benz jeep with Lagos registration No YAB 966 AQ was said to have hit the escort vehicle, which was among the four cars in the Deputy Governor's convoy. The Deputy Governor and other vehicles escaped unhurt.
Witnesses said the accident was caused as an Abuja bound Honda Accord with Lagos registration No LND 742 BE, lost control while overtaking the Mercedes Benz jeep.
The two drivers that caused the accident immediately fled into the bush for fear of reprimand for driving into the Deputy Governor's convoy.
The Kogi State Governor Capt Idris Wada has been briefed and has also expressed sympathy for the injured policemen.
Meanwhile, the Chief Security Officer to the Deputy Governor, ASP Alao Azziz wished the injured policemen quick recovery.
The Chief Security Officer to the Deputy Governor, cautioned drivers on excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking adding that, if the Honda was a little bit patient the accident would have been avoided.
