INSECURITY: PENGASSAN PETITIONS PRESIDENT JONATHAN.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, PENGASSAN, has sent a petition to President Jonathan, decrying the incessant kidnap and killing of oil workers in Niger Delta Region especially in Rivers State.


In the petition, PENGASSAN threatened to withdraw its members from the region should government fail to take urgent steps to guarantee the safety of workers. The petition which was issued by its General Secretary, Bayo Olowoshile, alleged that International Oil Companies, had issued security alert to their employees over resurging threats to workers and operations in the oil and gas industry. Copies of the petition were sent to the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Rivers State Governor, the Ministers of Labour and Interior as well as heads of the nation’s security outfits.
