Chief Ozekhome made the request today, at a press briefing shortly after his release by kidnappers.
The lawyer, who was surrounded by his siblings and kinsmen, was full of gratitude to God even as he praised the four gallant police officers, who died during a rescue operation.
Chief Ozekhome and his driver were kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen at about 3pm on Friday, August 23, along the Benin-Auchi road in Edo State. Four police officers died in an attempt to rescue him.
The kidnappers had requested for a hundred million naira ransom but we could not verify if it was paid.
Several persons have been seized in Edo State in recent times, despite a crackdown on kidnappers in the state. Before going on recess, the State House of Assembly approved a bill recommending death penalty for kidnappers in Edo State.

The bill has not been signed into law by Governor Oshiomole. Already, over five hundred suspected kidnappers are awaiting trial in the state.
