The Force Deputy Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba has confirmed the release of Prof. Kanene
Okonjo, mother of Nigeria`s Finance Minister, Dr Ngozo Okonjo-Iweala.
In a statement to our news desk, the Force PRO said the octogenarian was released today (Friday) and has since
re-united with her family.
Mr Mba added that
the Finance Minister`s mother is in good health but that the Police cannot give
any further details for now.

Professor Kanene Okonjo,
mother of Nigeria’s Finance Minister Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was abducted
by yet to be identified gunmen in Ogwashi-uku, Delta State on Sunday.
The abductors had reportedly demanded for a billion dollars ransom but later reduced it to two hundred million naira. We could not immediatly ascertain if any ransom was paid or how she was found and taken home to her family.
