ARMED ROBBERS ATTACK TRAVELLERS IN NIGER STATE

Armed bandits dressed in army-camouflaged uniform have attacked travellers along the popular Izom junction in Gurara local government area of Niger state. Witnesses said the hoodlums carted away valuables worth thousands of naira from the travellers.

The three-man gang reportedly halted the vehicles and ordered all the passengers to lie face down before dispossessing them of their valuables.  The operation lasted for more than thirty minutes and over six vehicles were robbed. The hoodlums were however chased away by members of the Niger State Vigilance Team. Niger state police public relation officer, Pius Edobor said efforts are on to track down the bandits.
