NIGERIA ARMY EXPLAINS RECENT RETIREMENT OF SENIOR OFFICERS

The Nigerian Army has explained that the recent retirement of some 51 senior officers was in line with the harmonised 2012 revised Terms and Condition of Services Officers.
Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Bola Koleoso, made the explanation on Thursday in Abuja, while responding to allegation of forceful retirements in the army being peddled through anonymous SMS.

He said the 51 officers comprising 12 Major Generals, 24 Brigadier Generals and 15 Colonels, were earlier notified in the year of their impending retirement.
Koleoso advised any aggrieved officer to take advantage of the relevant provisions in the Harmonized Terms and Condition of Services Officers, 2012 (Revised) to appeal to the President through the Chief of Defence Staff.
He urged them to stop banking on ethno-religious sentiments to pursue personal ambitions.
Koleoso also appealed to Nigerians to bear with the road block and search operations of the army, saying that they are targeted at forestalling attacks by undesirable elements
