UNIDENTIFIED BODIES DUMPED IN AMANSEA RIVER IN ANAMBRA STATE



 Anambra State Police Command says it has commenced investigation into the dumping of bodies in Ezu River in the state capital, Awka.
The state Commissioner of Police, Balla Nasarawa, said residents of Amansea in Awka-North Local Government Area of the State woke up on Saturday morning to behold over 30 dead bodies floating in Ezu River in Amansea. According to him, the bodies may have been dumped in the river on Friday night by yet to be identified persons. 
 The river is at the boundary between Enugu and Anambra states, and the bodies were found along the Enugu-Onitsha road axis of the river. Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, as well as her Environment counterpart both expressed shock at the incident, vowing that government will get to the root of the matter. Meanwhile, Governor Peter Obi is reported to have cut short his working trip abroad on receiving news of the incident.
