President Goodluck Jonathan will on Thursday this week, inaugurate
a professional Code of Conduct for the Nigeria Police Force.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubabar, announced this
on Saturday while hosting newly promoted junior officers of the force to a
party at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. Announcing
that the police will henceforth handle its pensioners, the IGP said a technical
committee is in place to review the salary and allowances of the police.
While urging his personnel
to sustain their current dedication to duty, the Inspector General of Police Abubakar
said by the middle of this year, 700 housing units would be delivered to
officers in the Inspectorate, and rank-and- file cadres.
