A faction of the Islamic sect, Boko
Haram has reportedly agreed to a ceasefire in northern Nigeria.
Reports say the ceasefire deal was
struck on Monday, at a meeting with Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima,
other top government officials and religious leaders from the state.
An acclaimed Commander in-charge of
North and Central Borno, Sheikh Abu Mohammad Abdulazeez Ibn Idris, told
journalists after the meeting that the deal was struck after due consultation
with the sect`s leader Shiekh Abubakar Shekau, following intervention and
pleading from prominent groups and individuals in the state.
