FACTION OF TERRORIST GROUP, BOKO HARAM AGREES TO CEASEFIRE IN NORTHERN NIGERIA



A faction of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram has reportedly agreed to a ceasefire in northern Nigeria.
Reports say the ceasefire deal was struck on Monday, at a meeting with Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, other top government officials and religious leaders from the state.
An acclaimed Commander in-charge of North and Central Borno, Sheikh Abu Mohammad Abdulazeez Ibn Idris, told journalists after the meeting that the deal was struck after due consultation with the sect`s leader Shiekh Abubakar Shekau, following intervention and pleading from prominent groups and individuals in the state.

He said the sect has agreed to lay down their arms on condition that Government should grant unconditional release of its members in prison custody, re-build their places of worship, and compensate them, among other conditions.
