Mother
of the Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Madam Betinah Okunwa Benson has
been set free by her abductors after eight days in captivity.

The
78- year-old woman was reportedly set free at about 10pm on Monday night by unidentified
persons.
Speaker, of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Kombowei
Benson, could not be contacted as at the time of this report but his spokesman,
Preye Kariamo, confirmed the release adding that she was handed over to members
of her family by the officials of Sagbama Local Government Council. He however
denied any payment of ransom, as the kidnappers had demanded forty million
naira for her release
