FCT MINISTER SETS UP COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE CIVIL STRIFE IN GWAGWALADA, ABUJA

The Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed, has constituted an 15-man committee, chaired by the FCT Police Commissioner, Aderenle Shinaba to investigate the remote cause of the clash and submit its recommendations within 7 days.

At a peace and security meeting with traditional and religious leaders in the Gwagwalada Area Council yesterday, Senator Mohammed said the prompt response of the FCT Administration and security agencies helped calm the crisis.
He called on the traditional rulers to caution their subjects against reprisal attack, promising that perpetrators of the violence will be sanctioned. Mohammed attributed the delay in opening up FCT grazing reserves to inadequate funds for compensation of original settlers of communities to be displaced.
Two people died and hundreds displaced in the December 29th violent clash between Fulani and Gwari communities in Gwako Village, Gwagwalada.
