A team of 26 doctors are due in
Nigeria next week for a ten-day free medical mission to help reduce the impact
of polio.
The team of volunteers from India would
be assisted by Rotarians and Nigerian doctors to train local orthopaedic surgeons
to be able to do the corrective polio surgeries as well as get the local communities
to accept the oral polio vaccine.
A statement by Rotary`s District Chair 9125,
Sarah Sanda said the Health Minister will formally flag off the corrective
surgeries next week, in Gwagwalada, FCT.
Nigeria`s President targets that polio will be eradicated in Nigeria before 2015.
