 HOUSE TO DEBATE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY BILL NEXT WEEK

The House is to commence debate on the much awaited Petroleum Industry Bill, (PIB), next week.
At its plenary on Tuesday, Majority Leader of the House, Mulikat Akande-Adeola had appealed for more time to get the necessary brief on the proposed PIB from the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke before commencement of the debate.
Meanwhile, a related Bill seeking to establish the national frontier exploration agency for the purpose of exploration and production of oil and gas in the Chad Basin, Dahomey Basin, Imo Basin, Benue trough, Bauchi Basin and Sokoto Basin was consolidated with the PIB.
Speaker Aminu Tambuwal who presided at plenary, directed members who intend to speak during the debate next week to drop their names with any of, the following: Majority Whip, Minority Whip, Deputy Majority Whip and the Deputy Minority Whip.
