The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has sealed
eight companies for failing to remit taxes amounting to N28. 3 million.
The Head of Distrain Unit of LIRS, Folasade Coker-Afolayan, told newsmen after the closure that the defaulting
companies were shut for failing to remit personal income taxes of workers.
She said the tax liabilities of each of the
companies were for between one to six years.
Mrs. Coker-Afolayan warned the sealed companies not
to violate the laws by opening their premises and doing business as usual.
She said it
would amount to criminal offence to do so.
