Security personnel are searching for the gunmen that attacked the Buni Yadi Divisional Police Station in Yobe State, north-east Nigeria.
Authorities said three police officers died in the attack which happened in the early hours of Friday.
Buni Yadi is the capital of Gujba Local Government Gouncil, which is
about 56 kilometres south of Damaturu the Yobe state capital.
Confirming the incident, spokesman of the Joint Task Force, (JTF) in Yobe, Lieutenant Eli Lazarus said the assailants carted away some arms and ammunition during the incident. He added that three churches were also razed by the terrorists.
He said the JTF has boosted security in the town and urged residents of the area to go about their lawful duties.
