The
Federal Government says contrary to speculations, the nation’s refinaries are
not for sale.
Minister
of Labour and Productivity, Chukwuemeka Wogu gave the clarification today
in Abuja, at a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum Resources and leadership
of NUPENG and PENGASSAN.
Mr
Wogu read the decisions taken at the meeting.
Addressing
journalists after the meeting, representative of Oil Workers Union, urged the
federal government to go beyond turn around maintenance, and halt the
importation of petroleum products.
NUPEG and PENGASSN
had threatened to commence a nationwide strike this month, over alleged plans
by the federal government to sell the nation’s refineries.
