NIGERIAN GOVT. SAYS REFINARIES NOT FOR SALE

The Federal Government says contrary to speculations, the nation’s refinaries are not for sale.
Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chukwuemeka Wogu gave the clarification today in Abuja, at a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum Resources and leadership of NUPENG and PENGASSAN.
Mr Wogu read the decisions taken at the meeting.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, representative of Oil Workers Union, urged the federal government to go beyond turn around maintenance, and halt the importation of petroleum products.
NUPEG and PENGASSN had threatened to commence a nationwide strike this month, over alleged plans by the federal government to sell the nation’s refineries.
