Madrid and Portugal attacker, Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged FIFA’s top player for
2013.
At a grand event
in Zurich, Ronaldo pocketed the 2013FIFA Ballon d’Or Award after four years in
waiting.
Brazilian football legend, Pele was
awarded the FIFA Ballon d’Or Prix D’Honneur award.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic beat Manchester
United defender, Nemanja Matic and Brazilian wonder kid Neymar to pick
the FIFA Puskas award 2013 for the best goal scored in the year under review,
among other winners.
The Afghanistan Football Federation
were awarded the FIFA Fair Award while former Bayern Munich coach, Jupp
Heynckes won the FIFA Coach of the Year award after guiding the German club to
a treble last season.
While in the Champions League
winners Bayern Munich and Liga champions Barcelona dominated the FIFPro XI for
2013, with Ballon d’Or nominees Franck Ribery and Lionel Messi featuring.
In goal, Manuel Neuer displaces
Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas, while his team mate Philipp Lahm and Barca
stalwart Dani Alves are the two full-backs, with Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos
of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid respectively at the heart of defence.
Ribery forms part of a three-man
midfield with Barcelona duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta, both key figures
in the team who coasted to Primera Division glory last term.
The final member of the Barca
contingent is Messi, who takes his place on the right of a three-man attack
also starring Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who fired
Paris Saint-Germain to their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years last term.
