TWO FCMB STAFF IN POLICE NET FOR 318MILLION NAIRA INTERNET FRAUD

The Enugu state Police Command says it has arrested two staff of the First City Monument Bank, FCMB for internet fraud, ranging from rapid inter-bank money transfers, amongst other nefarious activities.
The suspects were said to have transferred three hundred and eighteen million naira, with the aid of internet, using the bank’s pin code to access any account within or outside the bank they wish to operate. Realising the huge unauthorized transfers, FCMB officials in Enugu on the 11th of last month, blew the whistle.

Confirming the crime, Enugu State Police PRO, Ebere Amarizu told Our Correspondent that two suspects, Chike Himalayais, a cashier and Kingsley Ezeibieli a staff of the Port Harcourt branch of FCMB, confessed to the crime. One of the suspects was said to have been jailed for similar fraud in his previous bank, before joining the FCMB.  According to the Enugu State PPRO, Chike said he spies on accounts in the bank with huge deposits, and supplies information to his cohorts, who will then strike by using their configured laptops or any other internet device at any branch of the bank or any other bank at a given location, using the bank’s pin code which has already been provided to them.  Police said efforts are on to arrest fleeing members of the syndicate.
