CANADIAN GOVERNMENT TIGHTENS VISA POLICY

Canadian Government says henceforth, Nigerians and visitors from other nations must provide fingerprints and a digital photograph when applying for a visitor visa, study or work permit.
A statement forwarded to Nigeria Info by the Public Affairs Officer, Canadian High Commission, Abuja, Ezinne Uluocha said the new requirement will not only help protect the safety and security of Canadians, but also facilitate legitimate travel and protect prospective visitors by making it more difficult for others to forge, steal or use an applicant’s identity to gain access to Canada.

Applicants are also to pay a new fee of eighty-five Canadian Dollar for the collection of fingerprints and the photograph, which includes application services at the VAC.
Family members who apply together for a visitor visa will part with a maximum fee of one hundred and seventy Canadian dollars.
However, applicants under the age of 14 or over the age of 79 are excepted from the new rule. Diplomats and government officials travelling on official business are also exempt. The new visa policy took effect yesterday, Wednesday, October 23, 2013.
