NIGERIAN SENATE REJECTS 6 YEAR SINGLE TENURE & LOCAL GOVT. AUTONOMY.

Senate has rejected the proposed 6 years single term for President and State Governors in the on going vote on the recommendation of the senate committee on the review of the 1999 constitution.
During the clause by clause voting of the report at plenary today, senate also shunned Local Government Autonomy as well as Mayoral status for the FCT.
In his ruling Senate President David Mark said senate has carried out an historic exercise by voting on the constitution and that inspite of sentiments and emotions, the lawmakers were able to put everything in perspective.
