JUDICIARY INDICTS JUSTICE GUNMI OF GROSS MISCONDUCT



The National Judicial Council, (NJC) yesterday found a former Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Justice Lawan Hassan Gummi, guilty of gross misconduct.
The NJC said because Justice Gunmi had voluntarily retired from office to become the Emir of Gummi, in Zamfara state, the Council will visit any similar conduct by any Judicial Officer in Nigeria with severe sanctions.

A statement signed by the NJC’s acting Director of Information, Soji Oye, announced that the council accepted the findings of its committee which found that Justice Gummi interfered with the execution of a judgment delivered by Justice Jude Okeke of Abuja High Court in a suit between Nestello Gateway Group and the governor of Zamfara state, Abdul’Aziz Yari, in which execution had already been levied in favour of Nestello
