EGPYT's MILITARY EFFECTS A REGIME CHANGE




The Egyptian Military has effected a change in the country’s leadership.
Head of the Army, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had given ousted President Mohammed Morsi, until Wednesday evening to resolve the political impasse in the country. But Mr Morsi vowed to defend the constitutional mandate given to him last year.

In a televised speech today, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced the suspension of the country’s constitution, and appointed the head of the Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour as Interim Leader, while promising to hold Parliamentary and Presidential elections on a yet to be announced date.
While announcing that Egypt’s political future will be implemented by a national reconciliation, General Fattah al-Sisi blamed Mr Morsi for plunging the country into political crisis.

As at the time of this report, the where about of the ousted President was unknown. But his close allies sent tweets asking supporters to remain calm. World leader are monitoring events in Egypt.
