DTSG BANS SPEEDBOATS ON WATERWAYS IN WARRI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
THE Delta State govenment has banned movement of all speed boats of two horse power and above in the waterways in Warri North Local Government Area of the state.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay  who made the disclosure today, [3.7.13] while addressing the press shortly after the Delta State Security Council meeting in Asaba said that security operatives have also been mandated to arrest youths who hide under the guise of youths associations to engage in nefarious actitivities disclosing that “the existing law banning the activities of youths organisations in the state is still in force”.
Comrade Macaulay who was flanked by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Mr Ikechukwu Aduba and heads of different security agencies in the state, observed that the security council which was chaired by the Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan decried the present skirmishes being witnessed in some communities in Warri North Local Government area and commiserated with affected victims and families.

He however appealed for calm as according to him “ security agencies are on top of the situation and they should be allowed to do their work”

 His Words “Council notes with regret the recent happenings in Warri North local government area within the last few days. We wish to commeserate with victims and affected families. Security operatives are in control of the situation and they should be allowed to do their duties. People should be calm and go about their normal duties.”
Comrade Macaulay also disclosed that “Council approved the immediate ban on all movement on the  waterways in Warri North Local Government Area from 6.00pm to 7.00am to check the  further skirmishes in the area.”
On the security situation in Asaba, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay observed that Asaba has been  peaceful, and the security agencies were capable and alert to handle any criminal situation in the state.
He  called for calm and urged Deltans to cooperate with security agencies and tolerate inconviniences associated with the operations of the security agencies in the state.
On his part, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba,The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, disclosed that the armed robbers whose attempted to  rob a bank in Asaba  came from Lagos.
He dropped the hint yesterday while fielding questions from Journalists shortly after the state security meeting in Asaba.
According to him, the Kingpin who also brought them from Lagos have been discovered disclosing that his residence would be demolished in the  next few days.to serve as deterrent to people with similar intention.
Mr Aduba stated that security operatives are capable of tackling any security issue in the state and urged Deltans to go about their normal duties.
“There is no state that is crime free but we foiled the robbers and these guys came from Lagos,” the Commissioner said, and called on the members of the public to give useful information to the Police on how to get the armed robbers who were wounded during the gun-duel with the Police.
He rhetoritically asked, “some of these robbers escaped with bullet wounds, where are they hiding?”
The Commissioner observed that Ogwashi-Uku is still a flash point in the state and the vigilante group in the town has been banned.
