NIGERIAN GOVT. INITIATES 4 BILLS TO FURTHER REFORM THE TRANSPORT SECTOR

the Federal Government is set to privatise the nation’s transport sector.
Minister of Information, Labaram Maku announced this after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting earlier today.

He explained that the new policy will help remove the legal bottlenecks associated with private sector involvement in transport and provision of infrastructures
Maku said government was therefore proposing four bills, namely: the National Transport Commission Bill (2014); Nigeria Railway Bill (2014); Nigerian Ports and Harbour Authority Bill (2014); and National Inland Waterways Authority Bill (2014)
The Information Minister explained that government can no longer fund all the sectors of the economy, adding that government will deepen reforms in the transport and other sectors of the economy.
Maku said a Committee headed by the Minister of Justice, Muhammed Adoke , will finalise the Bills, which will soon be forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.
