NIGERIAN HOUSE OF REPS SUSPENDS DEBATE ON 2014 BUDGET.

The House of Representatives has suspended debate of the 2014 Appropriation Bill, over alleged violation of the Fiscal Responsibility Act.

As soon as the document was introduced,  the member representing  Guma Markurdi federal constituency of Benue state, Emmanuel Jime, alleged that the estimates presented by the executive violates section 21 sub section 1, 2 and 3 of the fiscal responsibility act of 2004.
Jime cited the unremitted crude oil revenue by the NNPC, which the parliament could not probe because of lack of details.
But contrary to Mr Jime’s view, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, John Eno noted that the structure of the document had the fixtures of previous estimate which the house had previously approved.
Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal announced the suspension of the debate and constituted a 6man advisory committee to advise him on allegation and counter allegation of the said violation.
The Speaker later announced that the House will not sit today and tomorrow, as APC lawmakers will be travelling for membership registration.
