NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT SAYS APC's STATEMENT IS TREASONABLE

PRESIDENT G. JONATHAN

The Nigerian government has condemned the call for the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan by the All Progressives Congress, asking the party to be ready to face the consequences of treason.
A statement issued on Sunday by APC’s interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, called on the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against Jonathan over an alleged gross misconduct.
But a statement from the presidency described the impeachment call as an “opportunistic, partisan and ill-motivated statement beyond the bounds of honourable and acceptable political conduct.
The Presidency also warned that the APC and any persons used for the breach of public order and safety would be made to face the full sanctions of the law.

The APC had cited former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to Jonathan last week that had generated reactions, alleging that the presidency is training 1,000 snipers.
