HOUSE OF REPS ISSUES 14 DAY ULTIMATUM TO THE RMAFC

HOUSE OF REPS ISSUES 14 DAY ULTIMATUM TO THE RMAFC

The House of Representatives on Wednesday, issued a fourteen day ultimatum to the Revenue Allocation and Fiscal Commission to advise President Goodluck Jonathan to forward a revenue sharing formula to the National Assembly.

The resolution followed a motion by Ali Madaki who contended that no president had sought the input of the National Assembly to the nation`s revenue sharing formula since 1999, as enshrined in the constitution.

Rulling on the matter, Speaker Aminu Tambuwal said the ongoing constitution amendment process includes an amendment to ensure that the  Revenue Allocation and Fiscal Commission forwards a reviewed revenue sharing formula to the National Assembly instead of the sitting president as currently practiced.
