The
Federal Executive Council has asked Nigerians to support constituted authorities
and the nation’s security forces to completely stamp out terrorism.
Minister
of Information, Labaran Maku made the call in Abuja today, after the weekly
F.E.C. meeting.
He
said today’s meeting dwelt on the terror attacks in Kano and Jos, Plateau
State.
The
Information Minister condemned the Governors of the 19 northern states,
saying that the insurgency in the zone has continued to fester due to their inaction.
Maku said
rather than concentrate on criticizing the federal authority, the northern governors
must mobilise their people to join the anti-terror campaign. He called for increased
vigilance from all Nigerians.
He commended the Nigerian Armed forces for living up to expectation.
Maku also announced that Thursday, May 29, 2014 has been declared a national holiday in Nigeria, to mark Democracy Day and the third anniversary of the Dr Gooodluk Jonathan's administration.
He said despite the recurring terror attacks, aimed at destraction the PDP led administration, Presisdent Jonathan has continued to make solid imprints in all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
He cited, road networks, rail, transport, agriculture and power as some gains. Mr Maku said Ministerail briefings will be held to further highlight the policies and programmes of government.
