President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Nigeria armed forces to immediately commence a major operation to end acts of banditry and kidnapping in Katsina State.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu, the major proactive operation will be conducted by Special Forces.
The statement added that details of the operation which are being kept secret, will replace the reactive strikes against insurgent camps.
And to give a full effect to the exercise, a planning team is already in Katsina State selecting targets and making preparations for the execution of the “unprecedented” operation.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, has briefed the President on the proposed military action. President Buhari who expressed sadness over the recent attacks in the State extended his condolences to the families of those killed and prayed for the recovery of the injured
