UNIVERSITY TEACHERS CALL FOR RELEASE OF ABDUCTED COLLEAGUE IN DELTA STATE, NIGERIA

The Delta State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASUU, has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of its kidnapped member, Dr Mercy Mokobia.
She was reportedly abducted from her home at Obiaruku at about 1am on Tuesday, by armed unknown gunmen, who broke into her home.
She is a lecturer in the department of Science Education in the Delta State University.

Chairman of the DELSU chapter of ASUU, Dr Emmanuel Mordi condemned the act, saying that the kidnappers later contacted a close member of the Mokobia family requesting for 20million naira ransom.
Dr Mordi said while the security agencies investigate the matter, the host community Obiaruku equally has a moral duty to fish out the hoodlums and ensure the security of Dr Mokobia, as well as all lecturers resident in the locality.
