President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed
shock and sadness at the sudden death of Professor Dora Akunyili, former
Minister of Information and Communications.

said President Jonathan believes that
Professor Akunyili will live long in the memories of those who were privileged
to know her as a diligent, public-spirited and forthright professional.
President Jonathan commended her
contributions to nationhood, during her tenure as the Director-General of the
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and Minister
of Information.
Dr Jonathan condoled the government and
people of Anambra State over her death.
Former Governor of Anambra State,
Peter Obi announced the death of Professor Akunyili, on behalf of the family.
Mr Obi said Professor Dora Akunyili died in the
early hours of Saturday, while undergoing treatment for cancer in India. Until her death, Professor Dora Akunyili was a delegate representing Anambra State at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja. She is survived by a husband, six children and other relations.
