DEFECTION: HEATED SESSION EXPECTED AT NIGERIAN SENATE

The Nigerian Senate is expected to witness a heated session today, following the perceived refusal of the Senate to read a letter submitted by eleven PDP senators, indicating their desire to formally pitch tent with the All Progressive Congress.
Deputy Senate President, who presided over last Thursday’s plenary, told the defecting senators that the letter could not be taken that day, due to the absence of the Senate President.
His explanation did not go down well with Senator Bukola Saraki and his colleagues.

Meanwhile, the expected peace meeting between the Senate President, former Kwara State Governor,  Bukola Saraki and ten other  defecting PDP senators could not hold as scheduled yesterday. This is because the defecting lawmakers boycotted the meeting. Senator David Mark kept to the 10am appointment for the meeting in his office, but none of the APC senators showed, forcing the Senate President to leave for his Apo residence at about 2.05pm.  The defecting senators blamed their absence to communication gap.
