NIGERIAN GUILD OF EDITORS MOURN MRS REMI OYO



The Nigerian Guild of Editors has joined the nation in mourning the death of its first female president, Mrs Oluremi Oyo.

Mrs Oyo died on Wednesday in London, few days to her 62nd birthday anniversary, which
would have come on October12.
She was the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, from 2003 to 2007, prior to her appointment as Managing Director of the News
Agency of Nigeria, (NAN).
Late Mrs Oyo served for two terms as President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors from 1999 to 2003 and was the Secretary of the Guild.
As president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, she laid solid foundation that made the guild a vibrant professional body of editors in the country’s media industry.
A condolence message signed by the General Secretary of the Guild, Isaac Ighure
notes that the Nigerian media is going through trying moments as it recently lost two other thoroughbred journalists, Dimgba Igwe of The Sun newspapers and Mike Akpan of Realnews magazine.
