HOUSE OF REPs. SAYS COURT DID NOT HALT INFECTIOUS DISEASES BILL.

The House of Representatives says consideration of the Infectious Diseases Bill has not been halted by any court.     Spokesman of the House, Benjamin Kalu made this known in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.
Hon. Kalu said the clarification became necessary because of reports in the media which he described as malicious and a misrepresentation of a court decision on May 13.
The court according to Kalu, did not grant the applicants relief to suspend consideration of the bill in order to enable the House which is the respondent in the matter to appear before it and enter a defence.
He said the House will continue to perform its lawful mandate without jeopardizing its respect to the judicial system.
It will be recalled that a Senator Dino Melaye who represented Kogi West in the eighth senate had last week instituted a court action to halt consideration of Infectious Diseases bill saying it threatened his right to life as a Nigerian.
